Thanksgiving

We are having 3 Thanksgivings this year. Whew. That's a lot of cooking!  Thankfully I am only responsible for one of the 3 meals. We are smoking a deer ham and a Turkey for the meat course. A pumpkin pie is in the oven tonight. Potato salad and mac n cheese round out the meal. The masterpiece of the meal is an old family recipe called sweet potato souffle. It's actually a casserole but delicious nonetheless.

On a crafting note, I am down to one hat order. I was inspired to make an awesome blanket for my youngest. Just a plain ol' granny square blanket. I made it with loops and threads charisma yarn. This is a size 5 bulky yarn. It made for a quick work up and extra warm blanket. I am in love with the colors as well. Currently deciding if I have time to make another in pinks and brown.  Well I'm off for more food prep then bed! Goodnight!

A woman on a million missions

Well the main title of the blog says it all. My name is April and I have crafting ADD. I have been creative all my life. I learned to draw not long after I learned to walk. Then I began to paint. I won't bore you with my entire life story so we will fast forward to after I gave birth to my first daughter.

The birth of Miss 6 was in 2005. About a year and a half later i moved back to my hometown and got back to being creative. I painted gourds and helped my grandfather make gourd lamps. We sold a few lamps to a lady in New York but quickly learned shipping was sky high. So we abandoned shipping our lamps. I decided I wanted to learn to make jewelry in 2010. So I began making beautiful gemstone jewelry and selling it on etsy. In 2011 I decided to learn how to make soaps. Those to became a fixture of my etsy store. In the same year (long before pinterest) I learned how to make bath salts and then scrubs. I loved that I could provide all natural products that were good for the body and it was something I could use myself as well.

The day after new years 2012 I found out I was pregnant and not long after that it would be girl number 2 for me. She was due in September. I was sick a lot the first couple months but continued to work as along as I could. By the end of February I was a stay a home mom for the first time ever. I had difficulty figuring out what to do with my spare time as I just couldn't make myself happy with soaps, scrubs, and jewelry. By the end of May I was learning how to crochet. Thank you youtube! My grandmother always crocheted but she couldn't teach me when I was a kid. I picked it up fast. Within a week I finished my first piece. It was a scarf for miss 6 that I had to pull out nearly a dozen times before getting remotely correct. I look at it now and think its hideous but miss 6 loves it. Bless her. Within a couple more days I was making hats. In a month they began to look as if I had been crocheting for years and I was even making owl pillows. This is definitely my new favorite craft! Stay tuned to hear about part two of woman with a million missions!
